DANISH HOT DOGS

Our plan to establish a company compliant with Belgian law which aims to put up a mobile Danish hot-dog stand at different locations in Brussels such as Place Jourdan, Place Luxembourg and other places near the EU-institutions has already been welcomed with great enthusiasm.

We will offer genuine Danish hot-dogs made by Danish raw materials for the same price as you would get them in Denmark (one hot-dog: 4€), making them available to everyone - not just Danes!

The company “Danish hot-dogs” will function as a co-operative. The aim will be to:

  1. sell hot-dogs from a mobile hot-dog stand which can travel to various locations in Brussels and surroundings,

  1. rent the hot-dog stand for events and parties such as weddings, students’ parties, Christmas parties, street markets, flee-markets etc.,

  1. run the hot-dog stand at Belgian markets such as the Christmas Market at Place St. Catherine, outside discos in week-ends and during different cultural events in Brussels,

  1. in the future the cooling facilities may also be used to store and sell Danish specialities such as pork meat, smoked fish and other specialities on demand.

We have researched the possibilities of importing Danish sausages, bread, ketchup, mustard, “remoulade”, cucumber salad etc. and the benefit of opening a hot-dog stand/snack-bar is that we will be paying Belgium VAT which is only 6% for businesses like this. We will not apply for a licence to sell alcoholic drinks. We have already asked about getting permissions for setting up the hot-dog stand which are not difficult to obtain.

The company will be established by private financing through loans which will be re-paid whenever possible. We are hoping for contributions amounting to 100€ per person and for anyone who lends us 500€ or more, they will automatically become shareholders in the company.

All contributors will get a free hot-dog now and then (not everybody on the same day!).

The daily running of the business will be carried out primarily by two responsible persons with help from students, au-pair boys and girls, retired people and others interested in making some extra pocket money for a few hours’ weekly work.
